Greenville was founded in 1846. It received its name from Thomas J. Green, a prominent contributor in the founding of the Republic of Texas. The name of our town was almost “Pickneyville” in honor of James Pickney Henderson, the first governor of Texas. Pickneyville has a certain ring to it, but we’re happy with our town name just as it is!
Just under an hour to the northeast of the great city of Dallas, Greenville is a lively hot-spot in the eastern region of Texas. No matter what you are interested in, it seems like Greenville was made just for you.
